We are a local friendly & welcoming family run business and our aim is to keep Basingstoke residents on the road. James Broadhurst is a highly experienced Bosch trained mechanic & qualified MOT tester who has gained his 23 years experience through working within main dealers, the RAC, Land Rover & Aston Martin Mondial Assistance & a highly successful local independent garage. His diagnostic expertise is exemplary & we are confident in taking on any automotive issue, however big or small.

Cat Broadhurst has worked within the motor industry for 17 years as a service advisor & bodywork estimator & has a very strong customer service ethic, focusing on maintaining strong relationships with all of our customers. Having worked for other companies we thought it was the right time to start working for ourselves & set up what is now, Avary James Automotive.

Had a really good experience with Avary James. The team were helpful, friendly, clear in their communication, and took the time to explain what they found during the inspection.

Work was carried out efficiently and they kept me updated throughout. Transparent and good pricing. Would definitely use them again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

10/10. Easily a 5 star service garage!!

This was my first time visiting Avary James and it was the five star views from previous customers that drew me to trying them.

From the moment I enquired for a quote to the completion of the work of my car, I came away from the garage thinking wow that is what I call service!! Genuinely they are some good garages in Basingstoke, but this is the best one. The lovely reception staff Kat and Karenza who were extremely friendly, helpful and polite through to all the garage staff who are the same.
Avary James mechanics were honest, explained what the issue was followed with photos of what needed doing and why and listened. Avery James really do offer the full package in all areas of customer service and work.

The work on my car was done efficiently and to a professional standard. I will be recommending this to my family and friends, and I’ll be back for my MOT and future services. Thank you everyone!! 😃

After getting advise from Timpson Hatch Warren that my Skoda Fabia battery did not need replacing, but that the spare key fob needed resetting, With a heavy heart, because it is an expensive exercise, it’s needed doing, so I made an appointment at Avary James for the 23rd May 2024, I was pleasantly surprise when collecting the car, they explained that there was nothing wrong and the battery was indeed flat and they replaced it for the grand some of £7 incl VAT. They were very kind in not charging labour for all the testing. Timpson charge £23 for the battery replacement 😡.
I am very impressed in the honesty of Avary James which is a rarity in today’s world as everyone is struggling. So thank you to Matt and the team. By the way, they serviced and MOT both my cars for the first time last year, so I will be back this August 🥳

First class service from Avery James. Had a problem with my Skoda called Avery and was told bring it in in the morning and we will have a look. They looked at the car identified what was needed sent me q note and photos to show the work required. Had it done the same day and the vehicle returned to me that evening.
What more can you ask for reliable trustworthy and skilled.
A fair price with a detailed estimate and the work done promptly.

Fantastic service and fast turn around! They helped me source and fit a window wash pump for my mazda, just in time to get my MOT sorted before the easter break. Highly reccomend and will be removing ties from other garages in favour of this place. They even do collect and drop of services!!
